On August 28th, 2020, our CEO Prof. Dr. Holger Lange gave a talk about the development of ressource-saving wind turbine towers on the 12th “Branchentag Windenergie NRW”. The motivation is based on the climate change, with temperature anomalies that keep increasing over the last years. It is also known that the production of concrete, steel, and glass fiber reinforced plastic is extremely energy consuming. That is also one of the reasons why the power industry takes a large share of CO2 emission in Germany.
The presentation shows the CO2 emission caused by the production of each material a comparison of various tower concepts is presented based on that. Check out the video (in German) below!
